my dues
to my over-creating, ever-abundant thoughts, you have no idea the value you hold to my identity, and i thank you for that. to my ex-lover’s cologne, i am thankful for your memories that take me away to a place and time i will always cherish; to the people we were before we are us now. to google, i am grateful you allow me to search ‘amazing commencement speeches’ so that i am educated on what the great masters are saying to their graduating students, just as i will be shortly. to my superman, i thank my constellations (and ask them why they made me lucky) every time you tell me that i am amazing. to my mother, thank you for accepting me every late night i return home, exhausted. to the cold smoke around hillcrest, thank you for your bite. to the air in my lungs, i give you my sincerest thanks for allowing me to live past each ticking second. to you: there is much you have to be thankful for, and for recognizing it, i thank you (in advance).
+to my boy’s ex-lover:
i would just like you to know that you really are a silly girl for ever thinking it was a good idea to hurt him for somebody else, and that he was too good to you when he decided to stay with you regardless. i would also like to thank you for making that mistake, so he could realize the kind of person he ultimately wanted to love and for bringing him to me.
+- me: relationships are like fridges, you have to try out multiple ones to see which works for you
- m: really? i can work with any fridge man
- m: don't really give a fuck as long as they do the job
